A three-CD selected overview of Bobby Robinson’s Harlem-based Fire and Fury labels that I curated and wrote the notes for. All the expected hits are spread over the first two discs—Wilbert Harrison’s “Kansas City,” Lee Dorsey’s “Ya Ya,” Buster Brown’s “Fannie Mae”—along with more obscure doo-wop, blues, R&B, and soul entries. The third disc should make collectors drool—all super-obscure stuff, some necessarily dubbed from my 45 collection!
