Liner Notes
Writing liner notes for CDs has been my primary niche since 1985, when Alligator Records hired me to provide a brief essay for Jimmy Johnson’s Bar Room Preacher back when vinyl was still the norm. Happily, I still write a fair amount of them, largely for reissues of vintage sides; I’m especially proud of my lengthy essays on various boxed sets, some of which we’ve spotlighted here. There’s also a list of the hundreds of liner notes that it’s been my pleasure to write over the years, along with rundowns on the reissue CDs that I’ve produced and/or compiled.
